In the year of 2006, more than 1.25 million children were abused in the United States.
More than half of those kids were victims of neglect, which is when their guardians or parents fail to provide for them.
Another 44% where victims of the three main types of abuse, sexual (135,000), emotional (148,500), and physical (325,000).
The reason I'm interested in writing about child abuse is not only because I want to learn more about it but because it's a more serious topic than people realize. These victims go through so much more than we know. Abandonment, favoritism, and end up having a lot of psychological problems as well (social and behavior issues, mental stability).
